Shah Rukh Khan to be in 'Dhoom 4'?

Shah Rukh Khan has been a part of many blockbusters produced by Yash Raj Films and he won't mind joining their popular 'Dhoom' franchise if the project is offered to him.

So after John Abraham, Hrithik Roshan and Aamir Khan who have played the main villain in Dhoom franchise it might be SRK.

During a press meet when asked if he would like to do a negative role in 'Dhoom 4', the actor said,"I am doing a film with Yash Raj and that's 'Fan'. If I get an opportunity, I would love to do it. I find it very cool."

The first 'Dhoom' movie came in 2004 starring John Abraham, Abhishek Bachchan, Uday Chopra, Esha Deol and Bipasha Basu.

Bollywood Gossip: Aishwarya, Aamir in Karan Johar's next?

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will be next seen in Sanjay Gupta's 'Jazbaa'.

But the actress has also signed couple of other projects.

This is 2014, not 1935: SC ends 6-decade monopoly of Bollywood's male make-up artists

While women work in most areas including as technicians and hairdressers, the industry does not allow women to work as make-up artists. Trade unions say this is to ensure men are not deprived of work.
The country's $2-billion film industry is the largest in the world by ticket sales. It produces between 300 to 325 movies a year and, although there are no official figures, trade analysts say the Hindi-language industry alone employs more than 250,000 people, most of them contract workers.
But in a court case brought by a group of women make-up artists against the Cine Costume Make-up Artists and Hair Dressers Association (CCMAA), a two-judge bench said recently that it would not permit this type of discrimination, had reported.
"Why should only a male artist be allowed to put make-up? How can it be said that only men can be make-up artists and women can be hairdressers? We don't see a reason to prohibit a woman from becoming a make-up artist if she is qualified," the quoted Justice Misra and Justice UU Lalit as saying in the previous hearing on 3 November.
"You better delete this clause on your own. Remove this immediately. We are in 2014, not in 1935. Such things cannot continue even for a day," they had told the CCMAA then.
While this case relates to the Mumbai-based Bollywood, the court said it will take action against regional language film industries based in cities such as Kolkata, Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad which also bar women make-up artists.

Bad music being sold with good marketing in Bollywood: Kailash Kher

Singer Kailash Kher said that good marketing was driving bad songs in Bollywood. Agencies
"Bad product with good marketing is being sold. But it's not necessary that the strategy will always work. The song being appreciated or liked by people today may not appeal after a year or so," Kailash told IANS in an interview. The singer was in the capital recently for the anniversary celebrations of an NGO, The Hans Foundation.
However, Kher also points out that "the music industry is rolling out some good and better songs, but filmy music is more popular" because of marketing strategy.
The "Allah ke bande" crooner has been associated with a slew of social causes and has participated in many charity-based concerts from time to time. Kailash is also one of the nine people nominated by Prime Minister  to take forward the message of Clean India.
"Working towards a social cause is my passion. I want to devote 25 -30 per cent of my income towards a good cause. I was a nobody and didn't even dream of becoming a star. So it's my way of reciprocating the love, appreciation, and trust I have gained," said the 41-year-old.
For the singer, the main reason behind being a good Samaritan is "people believe in stars and follow them and this can bring a change".
"If I cannot go out and teach, I can at least stand with people associated with a cause and get it in the spotlight. I also believe that the message we spread through music is more powerful," he said.
Kailash is known for his soul-stirring songs like "Teri deewani", "Saiyyan" and "Babam bam", but the singer says people don’t understand the deeper meanings of his songs.
“The intricacies of the songs are still not known. Every song provides a message along with entertainment,” he said. The singer is working on a new album, for which he has collaborated with a folk singer Prahlad Singh Tipanya.

Happy New Year 2nd Saturday Collections : Box Office Day 9 the real test

Happy New Years (HNY) has the real test of its box office collections today i.e.. the 2nd saturday or Day 9th. The official figures will be out on sunday, however the trends do not show a big rise and very good optimism.  Even as I write this, HNY has been able to perform good on Box office. But expectations do exceed the performance from SRK’s HNY.
200 Crores is a magical figure, and most of us have been expecting Happy New Year to gross 200 Crores from the day when it was released. But HNY collected merely 7 Crores on Second Friday, forcing us to rethink on what we set our expectations from the HNY.
HNY is estimated to collect around 9 Crores today based on advanced booking stats for the flick.  Happy New Year’s game is yet incomplete so lets wait and watch how it turns out to be this saturday and sunday. The flick has already grossed 157.57 Crores  in First Week, Happy New Year’s First Week Box Office Collections stands at 3rd place after Kick and Bang Bang.
Having a look at Happy New Year’s performances from First Monday onwards 15 Cr, 13 Cr, 11.5 Cr and finally 9.14 Crs on Thursday, leaves another picture of the flick’s inability to hold the crowd. However, it reach around 7 Crs on Second Friday i.e. Day 8 of the Box Office, Lets see if the 9th day could pull it a bit up to 9 Crores on Second Saturday

HNY second weekend collection : Happy New Year collected around 9.5 crores on its 10th day at Box Office.

Happy New Year failed to created any magic at Box Office in its second weekend. The movie was expected to collect around 35 crores in its second weekend considering that the movie has got a record breaking start last weekend. Huge collections were expected on second Sunday as it was SRK’s birthday and hype and craze was good on social networking sites. It looks like the hype hasn’t been converted into Box Office number as we have seen last weekend during movie release.
The movie collected around 9.5 crores on Sunday. The movie saw a rise of around 1.5 crores as compared to second Saturday collection of 8 crores.

HNY second weekend collection : Day-wise updates

  • Second Friday Collections : 7 crores (Official)
  • Second Saturday Collections : 8 crores (early estimates)
  • Second Sunday Collections : 9.5 crores (early estimates)

  • First Week Collections : 157.5 Crores (Official)
  • Happy New Year Lifetime collection : 181 crores (approx)

Happy New Year needs another 20 crores to cross magical figure of 200 crores at Box Office. 200 crores were looking a mere formality for the movie few days back but it certainly looks a mammoth task from now.

Talking about 2014 releases, Happy New Year is now the second

Happy New Year is till running on a high screen count of 3000 screens. The movie has only 4 days to work out numbers at Box Office as Akshay Kumar’s The Shaukeens will be releasing on 7 Nov 2014 and it will certainly takes 2500 screens at Box Office.

Varun Dhawan and Lisa Haydon

The Shaukeens actress, was seen very comfortable with Varun Dhawan at a recent event. Suddenly, the media reports were abuzz that the duo are dating and are engaged. However, Lisa took to Twitter to clear the rumors. I Am Single!@Varun_dvnis NOT engaged. Enough misinterpreting. Over. Please?
Varun too responded:@HaydonLisathis really cracked me up. next will have children. best of luck with shaukeen miss Haydon.
‘Queen’ star Lisa said, “Oh My God! I don’t even want to comment on it. No chance. That is not even true. I read it papers this morning…it is so not true. Doesn’t he have a girlfriend that he is engaged to? I am so single right now.”

Earlier, Lisa was dating entrepreneur Karan Bhojwani since 2005, announced her engagement in 2013 but called it off earlier this year as the couple needed to ‘figure things out’.
On the other hand, Varun has been linked to his ‘Student of the year’ co-star Alia Bhatt, Shraddha Kapoor and even Narghis Fakhri. However, he responded that they are only his dear friends and nothing else.
The gorgeous actress, grabbed the opportunity of promoting her upcoming flick ‘The Shaukeens’ as she released she is in limelight now.

Alia Bhatt to star in Rock On sequel, to go on floor next year

Alia Bhatt
Alia Bhatt
With 3 big hits this year- ‘Highway, 2 States and Humpty Sharma ki Dulhania” , Alia Bhatt has landed up with another big role in the 2008 film Rock On sequel.
Rumour says that when Alia Bhatt found the script of Rock On sequel interesting, the pretty actress went ahead saying yes. However, the cast of the film is still underway.
The 2008 Rock On directed by Abhishek Kapoor in which there was an ensemble cast of Farhan Akhtar, Arjun Rampal, Luke Kenny, Purab Kohli, Prachi Desai and Sahana Goswami was a super hit movie.
Making a sequel to Rock On would really make the sequel too a rocking hit considering the young actress Alia Bhatt in it. We just hope the rumours turn out to be true and see another blockbuster movie to the original.

The filmmakers also wanted an actress who can sing very well. After Alia marked her singing debut with ‘Samjhawan’, they have decides Ali is the perfect choice. Alia Bhatt will lead the cast. Says a source from the unit, “The makers want a young actress with a sexy vibe. Most importantly, they were looking for someone who is also a good singer and can record her own tracks.”
Rock On sequel will not be directed by Abhishek Kapoor. Abhihek is busy with Fitoor and has handled the project to Shujaat Saudagar.
Alia Bhatt is busy with Shandaar co-starring Shahid Kapoor and also Pankaj Kapur. The movie is all about destination wedding.
We would love to see Farhan Akhtar and Ali Bhatt together. What say readers.

Action Jackson Trailer : Official Theatrical Trailers

Action Jackson Trailer : It should have been named Action Devgan

Action Jackson as the name suggest should be a mix of high octane action and some cool dance moves. Well after watching the trailer, I certainly feels that the name of the movie should have been Action Devgan. There is nothing special that you would love in the trailer except some high octane action scenes performed by Ajay Devgn. Action Jackson seems to be another senseless, script-less movie with cheesy dialogues from Prabhudheva.

Action Jackson seems a typical Prabhudheva masala flick exactly on the lines of his previous hits like Rowdy Rathod, Wanted and R.. Rajkumar.
There is an actor who is a hot boded hunk. He loves to dance and fight and can beat an army of 100 with his incredible action moves. There is a girl who is here to make comic romance with the boy. Last but not the least, there are Bhaari Bharkam dialogues like permission, commitment blah blah.
Watch the Action Jackson trailer and share your comments on this absolute funny masala trailer. Sach me mujhe to 90’s ki filmon ki yaad aa gayi.

Action Jackson staring Ajay Devgn, Sonakshi Sinha, Yami Gautam, Manasvi Mamgai and Kunal Roy is slated for 5 Dec 2014 release.

Anushka Sharma not tied to Yashraj Films

Anushka Sharma not tied to Yashraj Films

Newbie Anushka Sharma is not contractually bound to do films only with Yashraj Films .

She got a dream launch in Bollywood with YRF’s Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi opposite Shahrukh Khan . But the lure of this dream launch did not tempt Anushka to sign any contract with YRF that would restrict her from working with other banners.

Asin , another Bollywood debutante of 2008, for instance, was contractually bound by the makers of Ghajini not to do any other Hindi film before the movie’s release. But Anushka did not falls for any such contract. Even though she has a three-film deal with YRF, she says she is free to do films with other production houses as well.

The saucy belle is nowadays busy reading a number of scripts. Offers have been pouring in since the release of ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’, but Anushka is taking her time to pick the right film that can take her career forward.

According to the buzz, work is already underway for Anushka’s next project with Yashraj Films. It would be directed by actor Parmeet Sethi and would star Shahid Kapur in the lead.

Sham Democracy and Political Persecution of Media in Pakistan

luqman
Like its previous regimes, the Nawaz government during its present tenure has consistently applied various methods to restrict the freedom of expression in Pakistan. These methods include: distribution of newsprint quota; implementation of a press advice system and censorship; allocation of government advertisements; awards of cash prizes to selected media men and journalists; appointment of selected journalists on government positions; dispensation of monetary and other benefits to influential journalists and opinion makers.
In a most recent Government led attack on freedom of expression, Pakistan Electronic Media Regularity Authority (PEMRA) ordered ‘ARY News’ off the air for 15 days, with an imposed levy of Rs. 10 million on this most popular media group. The media ‘licencing authority’ which has almost become the ‘media silencing authority’ also banned ‘Khara Sach’ program aired on ARY News and its presenter Mubasher Lucman. It is the latest action of Nawaz government in an organised campaign of pestering and bullying ARY network on account of its punchy programming and an often populist tone. The decision came at a time when under Nawaz Government, Pakistan is ranked 158 out of 173 in the 2013-14 Press Freedom Index.
Although PEMRA was originally intended to be a distinct body under supervision of the cabinet, it was transferred to fall under the purview of the Information Ministry, thus weakening its independence from government.  Nawaz government wants to use PEMRA as institutional form of control of “press advice system’’. In which government officials will constantly tell Pakistani news outlets and editors how to behave, what to publish and what to broadcast.
Mubasher Lucman and ARY has been punished for raising a very basic question in a lawless society and the question was whether the Law makers are above the Law in this land of the pure (Pakistan). Astonishingly enough, a Judge of the Lahore High Court namely Justice Mazahar Naqvi had taken the notice of grave allegations leveled against him, in a program hosted by Mubasher Lucman on ARY.  The above mentioned judge banned Mubasher Lucman as well as his programme.  Mr. Justice Naqvi has not taken into account that in many countries across the world, superior Judiciary has already restricted the ability of government bodies, including judicial courts, elected bodies, State-owned corporations and even political parties, to bring an action against journalists for defamation. This is in recognition of the vital importance in a democracy of open disparagement of government and public authorities including courts. The judges should not restrict the freedom of expression in such a way as there are plenty of opportunities available to Pakistani judges to defend themselves from criticism.
This self-centered action of Justice Naqvi reminded me the famous verse of the second century roman poet Juvenal who said, ‘quiscustodietipsoscustodes’ (who will guard the Guards). In a democratic country the judiciary is supposed to be an essential check and balance on the other instruments of the government, ensuring that laws of the legislature and the acts of the parliament comply with international human rights including the Freedom of expression. While the various segments of Pakistani society have extended an unparalleled support to Independence of Judiciary; the Pakistani Judiciary should appreciate the fact that Independence is not an end in itself.  The independence of Judiciary should play a pivotal role in promoting freedom of expression and civil rights. Catherine Anne Fraser, Chief Justice of Alberta, Canada has once said, ‘We have independence for one reason – to protect the rights of our citizen’.
This must be recognised that criticism on Judiciary by media is the recognition that independence and rights of the judges are not absolute. In democratic countries judges are often criticised savagely and severally by the media. However it appears from such orders that Judiciary in Pakistan feels sanctified. Equipped with so much power, there is a development of ‘arrogance of the office’ with a feeling of being untouchable.

Imran Khan continues to fight for democracy in Pakistan

imran-khan-blog
When I visited Pakistan earlier this year, little did I know that I would be making history, by being part of the one of the world’s largest and longest street demonstrations.  As Imran Khan tweeted: “This morning I walked around Azadi Square where people too congratulate them 4 setting world record: 44 consecutive days at Azadi dharna. Commitment.”  The Azadi ‘freedom’ march began on the 14 August 2014 and coincided with Pakistan’s 67th independence-day.  Living in a self-sustained container and to the loud eruption of noise and sound of music, appeared the cricket star, who I once sat down in my living room and watched captain Pakistan win the world cup in 1992.
Now the cricketer turned politician, has different things on his mind, although he cannot resist taking us down the memory lane, “In one single ball, I will break the wicket of Nawaz Sharif and Zardari (the former President of Pakistan).”  Now, however he has a different message, citing the poetry of Allama Iqbal, he wants a ‘Naya’ (new) Pakistan.  A new Pakistan, where the rich and elite from society, stop dodging taxes, and which is free from economic misery, human rights abuses, deprivation, electricity shortage and ultimately no more corruption.  In Khan’s words a “revolution” is happening.  The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Facebook page has over 2,108,527 likes and it seems like those numbers are now translated offline as the Azadi demonstrations are awash with colours of green and red.
According to Khan, “Pakistani Awam Jaag Gaya” (Pakistan has woken up).  From, Islamabad where the heartbeat of the protest movement began to the demonstrations in Karachi and Lahore, this freedom march is like no other.  It aims to reinvent Pakistan and hold those in power to account.  But change doesn’t come without trial and difficulty and Imran Khan and those attending the demonstrations have risked arrest, death and police brutality.  Despite this, the sound beats of ‘Go Nawaz Go’ continue to get louder, so much so that one of Nawaz Sharif’s own ministers, the President of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz KPK, Pir Sabir Shah had to hold a press conference in Peshawar and apologize for chanting ‘Go Nawaz go’ slogans at a convention by mistake. The slogan which has been reverberating in Pakistan was even challenged in the Lahore High Court because apparently it was causing ‘chaos’ and posed a ‘threat’ to society.  Indeed, the Prime Ministers, daughter Maryam Nawaz Sharif ,it appears she  also had enough of the chanting, as she tweeted: “Seems PMLN workers have had enough of PTI vandalism. A tit for tat response & PTI won’t find a place to hide. Saw trailer in Wazirabad today.”
The Prime Minister himself has tried to remain calm and collective in the face of protest, but has been recently looking flustered and angry. After going on a visit to the US, he met with a chorus of opposition and finally broke his silence at a press conference urging Imran Khan to stop holding the ‘Dharna’ (demonstration) and help families who were victims of the recent water floods.  Khan however it appears that PTI has no plans of leaving yet, saying: “I’m not moving till Nawaz Sharif resigns.”
However, the demonstrations continue to take place, as the country is gripped with anticipation as the crowds continue to flock together to get a glimpse of Imran Khan.  For once, ordinary Pakistanis have had enough of the ‘VIP’ culture that exists in Pakistan’s patriarchal society and they want real change.  There has been an upsurge in support for Imran Khan and for once people genuinely believe he could be the new Prime Minister in waiting.  I believe, we are witnessing a momentous occasion in Pakistani politics where finally people feel empowered to come out on the streets, both men and women alike and want their voices heard.
